Dr. Martha Starks is the Pastor of Word of Life Family Worship Center located at 726 East Liberty Street in Salisbury, North Carolina. Prior to accepting the position as Pastor, she served two years as the Assistant Pastor. She has diligently served for over 33 years as Senior Pastor.
Dr. Starks is a graduate of Catawba College in Salisbury, and a Biblical Studies graduate from the Institute of Biblical Studies in Lynchburg, Virginia. She received an Honorary Doctor of Divinity degree from Union Bible Institute in Durham, North Carolina. Active in the community she is a member the Mayor's Covenant Community Connection, and Project Hope which provides the spiritual element for the Project Safe Neighborhoods Program through the Salisbury Police Department. She is also a member of the Salisbury Interdenominational Fellowship. She is the former Chairman of the Board of Directors for the Paul W. Laurence Dunbar Family and Community Center, former Chairman of the United Way Family Sub-Committee on Parenting, a former member of the Salisbury Human Relations Council, and the former Chairman of the Program Services Committee for the New Tomorrows program sponsored through Rowan Helping Ministries. Her radio broadcast "Victory in the Word" can be heard Monday through Friday at 10:30 a.m. on WOGR 93.3 WordNet Radio Station out of Charlotte. In 1995, Dr. Starks begin a Tuesday Bible Study at 11:00a.m. In 1999, the Morning Bible Study was moved to Wednesday Morning called "Mid-Day Refreshing".
She is married to Elder Clinton Starks and they are the parents of three children and have four grandchildren. Dr. Starks ministers under the anointing of the Holy Spirit, and has seen the Word of Life Family Worship Center congregation grow during her tenure as Pastor. She loves the Lord and is committed to teaching and preaching the Word of God uncompromisingly.
